A Small Cocktail Bar that Makes a Big Impression
Step into The Long Island Bar on an unsuspecting corner of Brooklyn’s Atlantic Avenue and you’ll be excused for thinking you’ve travelled back in time. This bar has been a city mainstay for 50 years (barring a period of closure while it changed ownership) and it seems, at least decor wise, to have barely changed. And not in a tourist-attraction, fairytale way, but in a realistic this is how it is, how it was and how it always will be style.
Take a seat at the bar or tuck yourself away in one of the intimate booths and imagine you’re living the 1980s New York life. Then the real magic begins: with mixologist Toby Cecchini’s cocktails. True to the bar’s atmosphere he sticks to the classics but adds inventive, and always successful, twists. A night sipping on the White Negroni Sbagliato (pictured) and snacking on salted roasted almonds is a night well spent.
